Just like a caterpillar spins a cocoon in order to transform into a beautiful butterfly, Rainbow Hospice and Palliative Care is wrapped up in a whirlwind of activity leading up to the grand unveiling event for Promises Take Flight, a community public art initiative featuring decorated fiberglass butterflies.
The event, - which will take place on Wednesday, June 20 from 3:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Rainbow Hospice’s main office on 1550 Bishop Court in Mount Prospect, IL - is growing by leaps and bounds as butterflies continue to be added to the roster as new sponsors and more community artists join the ranks.
At the current count, more than 60 individually decorated butterfly statues are set to be unveiled at the free public event. The butterflies will be showcased alongside a family-fun event including food and drinks from Park Ridge based Affresco’s Pizzeria and All on the Road Catering, Des Plaines based, Hugos Frog Bar as well as homemade ice cream from Capannari’s Ice Cream in Mount Prospect.
The refreshments will be joined by tours of the still new Rainbow Hospice Main Offices and a special live butterfly release which will be held at 6:15 PM.
After the unveiling, the butterfly statues will also be released into the public where they will be available all summer long for public viewing throughout Park Ridge, Des Plaines and Mount Prospect.
For anyone hoping to join in on the action, butterfly sponsorships are still available. All sponsorship proceeds will go to support the Rainbow Hospice Good Mourning Program, the longest running, most comprehensive, family-focused children’s bereavement program in Illinois. To find more information about sponsorship, businesses and community members can call 847-292-2355.
Like their fluttering counterparts, these butterflies will be around for just a short time, so don’t miss out as these promises take flight into the community and save the date for the
free community unveiling on June 20th.
