Rainbow Hospice and Palliative Care was visited by a delegation from the Hangzhou Municipal Civil Affairs Bureau, Hangzhou China. The delegation is visiting the United States for two weeks; it spent the first week in Washington DC and is in the Chicago area, visiting a wide variety of social service agencies whose services they wish to learn more about and that they believe could benefit their citizens. Hospice and palliative care is offered in China and in Hangzhou but is not yet seen as a resource by the culture.
The delegation met with RHPC Community Education Program Manager Nancy Flowers to learn more about how hospice supports and educates patients & families regarding end of life and also outreach provided to the community around the benefits of hospice care. Of particular interest was the role of social work and spiritual care in supporting patients and families at end of life.
